I <3 William Shatner on Twitter

I love how they respond to him, as if he is actually a captain, even more.

Nasa confirmed for huge fucking nerds

This is awesome and priceless and people that work on space stuff are the best people of all time.

Honestly this just about brings me to tears.

Roddenberry, Shatner, Nimoy, Nichols and all the rest of the original Star Trek cast and crew had no small role in making the moon landing as important as it was.  A few years before they set that lunar module down, this little TV show came along and fanned the dream into wildfire with an image of what humanity in space could actually look like—not only peaceful on our own world, endlessly curious, and prosperous enough to pursue it, but an active force for good in the greater universe.  Carrying not what’s most toxic about us, but what’s best about us out to the stars.

Everybody who has worked at NASA or any other space agency for the past 50 years is waiting for the day when that unmanned probe doing a flyby on a comet can be controlled from the bridge of a space-faring vessel.  When we’re not just looking at that comet through a color-coded sonar map, but we can look out a porthole and see it tumbling by with our own eyes.  When as a species we can finally outgrow hate and fear and violence, and turn our faces with joy toward all the beauties and wonders that lie waiting to be discovered.

And every time he does this, Shatner is reminding them of what that hope feels like.

why is Ursula shunned from King Triton’s society? does it have something to do with being more powerful than him? why does King Triton have a magical trident, being otherwise a pretty regular merman? Ursula is a witch, if anyone should have a magical artifact it should be her, did King Triton steal it?

and finally, Ursula didn’t do Ariel much wrong

Ariel wanted some legs (and a vagina) and Ursula told her flat out that in the surface world you can have a vagina or a voice, not both

i’d watch the hell out of a movie about Ursula

Ursula told her flat out that in the surface world you can have a vagina or a voice, not both”

ohhhh shit though, ursula was being too real about the world

although perhaps a bit too literal

Okay, these were all excellent points and I’ll never see The Little Mermaid the same way again.

I laughed at that caption at first then the reality actually hit me

you can have a vagina or a voice, not both”

Bruh… Little mermaid was deep.

Ursula gave the game to Ariel:

"The men up there don’t like a lot of blather.
They think a girl who gossips is a boor.
And on land it’s much preferred for ladies not to say a word,
and she who holds her tongue gets a man.”

^^^

Literally the whole song “Poor Unfortunate Souls” was Ursula asking Ariel if she was sure that was the kind of life she wanted. She told Ariel EXACTLY what to expect and exactly what would happen should she fail to uphold her end of the bargain. Ursula was 100% honest with her. Ariel STILL said yes because she was naive.

And notice Eric wasn’t too distraught about Ariel not having a voice during their time together? After he got over the initial shock, he was like “Okay, cool, I’LL do all the talking and you just look pretty.”

Can we get a whole line-up of movies about our villains, though? I really am more interested in their backstories than anything.

For me it was just a really big goodbye and easily heartbreaking. It wasn’t one of those things to think about it. Josh [Holloway] is really strong, so I was on this pulley, and I had them loosen the pulley so he’d really be holding me up, and it killed both of us every time. When my hand slipped from his, it was because he couldn’t hold on any longer. So that hit us with a real punch… We were broken-hearted and crying quite a bit.
